Description: This is a copy of a Nicolas Lupot violin of 1798 from the Laberte-Humberte workshops and was made around 1920. It has a pale clear varnish with tones of orange and yellow The instrument is in structurally good condition with a 2 piece back, fine grain spruce top. It has wear marks and scratches to the varnish

A striking colour and structurally sound, this is an excellent players instrument and available at a very attractive price.

It is fitted with an ebony tail piece & chin rest and Pisastro Tonica strings.

Sold with Vatelot-Rampal certificate of provenance.

Characteristics: Produces a full, ringing tone with clear upper registers. This violin has a an attractive voice and resonance.

Background: The Laberte workshop produced a large range of instruments and bows of consistent quality and by 1920, employed over 300 people. Many skilled master makers worked for Laberte, including Camille Poirson, Charles Brugere, and Georges Apparut each of whom went on to become famous luthiers in their own name. Instruments produced by the firm ranged from student instruments to those of the very highest standard. The violin we are selling here is a mid range model and, as such, represents an excellent value purchase.
