Description: The bow is in a very good condition with a few blemishes. Its head is shaped precisely and shows well the exent of Prager's experience and skill. The ebony frog is distinctively designed, the slide and the Parisian eye is mother of pearl. The total length of the bow is 72.8 cm, its measured balance-point is at 26.0 cm from the adjuster end. The adjuster button is probably not original but from the same era.

Characteristics: This fine Augstin Prager violin bow produces a full, rounded tone of some sweetness. It is finely balanced, responsive to play and will bring out the best in most violins.

Background: August Edwin Prager (1875-1956) learned the art of bow making from his father Friedrich Wilhelm. After his apprenticeship he worked in the renowned shop of Ludwig Bausch in Leipzig. At the turn of the century he started to work for himself in Schönlind and in 1930 he moved to Markneukirchen, where this fine bow was crafted.
