Description: A quality instrument with a finely grained spruce top and single piece back. In a good condition with a few varnish blemishes and scratches. Fitted with a new ebony tail piece & chin rest.

Supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity from Vatelot-Rampal, long established French stringed instrument experts.

Characteristics: A mellow & clear sound with tonal integrity. Excellent value instrument made under the direction of Paul Bisch, Mirecourt.

Background: In 1923 Paul Bisch formed a partnership with Chistian Olivier. Together, they developed a workshop that specialized in the production of fine violins known as "A La Lyre" located at 74 Rue de Turbigot in Paris.

Paul Bisch was in charge of the technical production while Christian Olivier managed all all commercial aspects of the business. This venture lasted until 1929 when Paul Bisch set up on his own and moved to a new location at 8 rue Saint Georges in Mirecourt, France.

Paul Bisch's instruments are described by Henley as ..' Scroll, sound-holes and purfling, all neatly done. Red-brown oil varnish on yellow ground - of sparkling effect. Tone completely in accordance with modern requirements.'
