General Information

All violins & bows are photographed with the same camera settings & lighting. We don't use computer software to improve instrument images - they are as photographed although it should be remembered that different computer screens render colour differently. If there is a sound clip included, it will have been recorded by the same violinist using the same equipment.

Payment

You can pay either by credit card or bank debit using PayPal, the reliable & safe online payment system that is integrated into our purchasing system. Your data transmission is protected through the latest encryption technologies.

An alternative to paying online is by bank transfer payment in advance, a service which we are also happy to provide before delivery. Contact us at info@hergova.com for further information.

Shipping

Orders are usually depatched within 2 business days of payment being received. Normal delivery times are for 2 - 6 business days within the UK and the EU. International deliveries normally take around 8 - 10 business days from despatch.

We use major courier companies and items are sent with comprehensive insurance. In the event of any damage occurring in transit, please note and photograph any damage to the instrument and forward the details to us at sales@hergova.com. Shipping charges are as below:

Old violins & bows

We sell mainly old French violins and bows but also instruments from German and English violin and bow makers.

Violins

Within the UK: £20 for each violin
Within the European Union: £25 for each violin
International (excluding Asia & Australasia): £80 for each violin
International, Asia & Australasia: £90 for each violin

Bows

Within the UK: £15 for up to 3 bows
Within the European Union: £25 for up to 3 bows
International (excluding Asia & Australasia): £35 for up to 3 bows
International, Asia & Australasia: £35 for up to 3 bows

- if 1 or 2 bows are ordered with a violin, they are shipped free of charge with the violin. If you are ordering more than 3 bows, please contact us at sales@hergova.com for the shipping charge.

Packing

Violins are normally despatched with bridge & soundpost in place. If the soundpost drops in transit, your violin shop should be able to put it back up. If you prefer, the violin can be sent with the bridge and /or soundpost put down but please let us know.

All vioilins over £1000 are sent in a new oblong violin case and those priced £500 - £1000 are sent in a new student case. Instruments costing less than £500 are packed securely in double ply cardboard boxes with plenty of padding.

Bows are either sent in thick card tubes or in the violin case if ordered with a violin.

Returns

Wherever you are based, all items bought via our website are sold in accordance with EU distance selling regulations, which means that you have a 14 day period in which to decide whether to keep or return an item. This 14 day period starts upon receipt of the item, and you may return an item for any reason, without challenge within the 14 day period.

Should you wish to return the item, all shipping and insurance expenses will be covered by you, and the item must be returned in its original condition and packaging. Please contact us at info@hergova.com to discuss details before returning an item and note that returned items must be clearly marked as 'Return' for customs purposes.

We will make a full refund of your payment to Hergova Violins if any instrument or bow you have purchased from us does not match its physical description in these web pages, provided the item is returned within fourteen days of you receiving it and in the same condition in which it was despatched. Refunds will be made once the instrument is received back here by Hergova Violins.

We are unable to accept returned items unless you have contacted us first.

For instance, searching for *bert* in the Name field will return results from: Laberte-Humbert Frères *Bert* Smith Robert Humbert Searching for *189* in the year field would return years from *1890 - 1899, as well as the year 189* (violins weren't invented then !) and *2189* (will we all be here then?).
