Description: A warm amber varnish with some blemishes & marks typical of a used instrument of this age. A light & responsive violin that continues to play beautifully. In a good condition with some marks & scratches to the varnish.

Supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity from Vatelot-Rampal, long established French stringed instrument experts.

Characteristics: A powerful, full tone with warm lower notes and smooth upper tones.

Background: Worked circa. 1900 Mirecourt France. The successor to lutheirs Vuillaume-Darte from 1891. Often made Stradivarian models with chestnut red varnish although this violin is finished in a light amber colour. Usually labelled 'Ancienne Maison Vuillaume Darte et Cunin / Léon Mortin. Luthier / No.. Mirecourt, 1904'.
