Description: This violin is a copy of a Francesco Ruggieri violin of 1671 with a 2 piece back. Beautifully antiqued to mimic the original and in very good condition with a small repaired f-hole crack. Fitted with a Wittner fine tuner tail piece and Dominant strings.

The instrment has an antique finish with adds to the overall character of a very attractive instrument. Structurally sound. Small repaired crack to treble f-hole.

After some 100 years, this violin has matured well. It would be a worthy acquisition for an ambitious and deserving violinist.

Characteristics: A smooth & mellow tone make this the idea violin for an ambitious and deserving student violinist.

In very good condition, this is a fine example of a JTL Virtuose level instrument

Background: Born at Mouttes 1833. Worked at Mirecourt and Paris and became sole proprietor of various factories at Mirecourt, and partly automated the production of instruments. Awarded medals in every country. Honoured with the Chevalier of the Legion of Honour ribbon, 1877. The firm continued to prosper and expand, and made numerous types of violins, branded or labelled with the names of famous luthiers, local craftsmen or indeed made-up ones. The instruments were exported throughout the western world & vary in quality from truly excellent to instruments for beginners. Sarasate & Virtuose were higher level branded instruments from JTL.
